3pp., 4to. Bifolium, addressed on reverse of last leaf 'To Lackington Allen & Co | Finsbury', with oval red postmark. Good, on lightly-aged paper, with unobtrusive traces of stub. The letter is addressed to 'My kind Friend'. The 'valuable little present' of a copy of 'The Accidents of Human Life' [by Newton Bosworth] is an 'unexpected pleasure' and 'truly welcome'. 'I am about to review several publications for youth in a new weekly publication in which I am concerned and this excellent little work has arrived just in time for me to give it the notice it so truly merits.' He asks for 'your large Library Catalogue & small school catalogue' to be sent down 'by Tooting coach direct to me'.
