We have attained fair form at fours and marching and are making strong endeavours to organize London and collect some money to buy rifles.’Enclosure: Circular, on letterhead of the Irish Volunteers, 206 Great Brunswick Street, Dublin; May 1914. Mimeograph, one page, 8vo, good condition. It begins, ‘As the existence of the Arms Proclamation has had the effect of compelling us to pay war prices for arms, ammunition, and supplies, and has delayed the fixing of standards for the various articles, the Provisional Committee has directed that the Officials of all Irish Volunteer Companies be asked to bring pressure to bear to have that Proclamation immediately withdrawn.’ This item is listed in my catalogue, Printed and Other Material From the Papers of Robert and Sylvia Lynd, all of Irish interest.
