3 ALsS, 1 TLS and 2 ANsS, all signed 'AE', to Sylvia Lynd, poet and novelist.
3 ALsS, 1 TLS and 2 ANsS, all signed 'AE', three from 41 Sussex Gardens, London; two from 84 Merrion Square, Dublin; and one on letterhead of the Irish Statesman, 84 Merrion Square, Dublin, four dated between 1904 and 1933, the other three undated., totalA letter tentatively dated to 1918 or 1919 by MG begins 'It is very good & generous of you & Robert in these hard times to pass on the money received for literary work to Mrs Connolly. I will sent to her my own cheque for the amount telling her it is not from me but from an Irishman who had an admiration for the ability & character of her husband.' Describes the suggestions on how the 'money collected by the National aid' is to be spent: 'and then we decided to use the money to educate young Connolly [Roddy Connolly (1901-1980)], the boy however is too much for us & also for his mother. We placed him as a boarder in a good college where they were very sympathetic to him & where I hoped he would be taught so as to be able to get a scholarship in the College of Science'. The TLS, on letterhead of the Irish Statesman, 10 April [1930], reads 'It was nice of you to lay a wreath upon the Statesman which died yesterday when I corrected the last proofs. I hope I shall never write a leading article again. Y.O. is gone to Limbo along with six or seven other pseudonyms. I hope by the beginning of next year after a rest I shall start to write books which I could not have dreamed of undertaking when I was doing so many weekly columns.' Also a typed transcript (by MG?) of a letter from Russell to SL 'about James Connolly's son Roderic, whom Connolly left in his charge and Dr. Tobin's'.
