The two items are both on both sides of 8.5 x 11cm grey cards (the first gilt-edged). In good condition, lightly aged, with traces of mount adhering to one edge of each. ONE: From Redlands (of Rolling Stones fame). He begins: 'My dear Seymour | I enormously enjoyed your book [presumably 'If I were your Father' (1919): I've read it thrice! It's great fun, with an immense amount of real good sense: & it sparkles, Seymour, almost as much as you do when you stand on the <?> at the Garrick & let go at us!' He thanks him for sending the book, and hopes to see him at 'the Club' the following week. He has had 'rather a rotten time the last two months, doing a sort of mild rest-cure', but hopes to 'attend the rehearsals at Wyndham's'. He has not 'seen a Garricker for something like ten weeks', and has 'missed the old place & my old pals!' TWO: From Chester Terrace. He thanks him for tickets, but finds the price of ten shillings 'absurd' and 'ridiculous': 'I shall have to go into the highways & byways tomorrow to purchase the shillingsworth of something for you to salve my conscience. It will come in a Pickford's van, or by messenger, or balloon, and come it will! And it's all your fault, Seymour, you amazingly & <?> generous person!' He enjoyed his book 'immensely': 'it's splendid reading & great fun: & you've dealt charitably & kindly with everyone. A real good book, Sir: & my compliments to you!' He ends by wishing him 'a triumphant success tomorrow!'
