Boissier's subscription for '15 Vols. new' is charged at five guineas. In a large hand at foot of page: 'Recd Payt. | [signed] W Dangerfield'. Predating the 1852 move of Mudie's 'Select Library' to the celebrated premises in New Oxford Street. Mudie succeeded to the business of a William Dangerfield, who may possibly be a relation of the signatory of the receipt. He commenced business in Bloomsbury in 1842 (Griest, p. 3).
