3pp., 12mo. Bifolium. Fair, on lightly-aged paper. Slight damage to second leaf caused on opening of letter, with small piece of one corner under the red wax seal. Addressed on reverse of second leaf to 'Revd. Thomas Wilkinson / New Knapton Hall / /near/ North Walsham'. He writes that he will surprise Wilkinson 'by this flying note to tell you how strong the recollections of old times still remain in my memory'. If they could see each other, Wilkinson would see his 'external change'. Since they met Verity has 'been several times on my travels, the sport and play-thing of circumstances'. He wishes he could tell him 'where it is likely I may become a fixture'. All their 'old acquaintances have kept somehow or other out of sight - Marsh, Travis and all'. There follows a reference to his 'jovial, iron-laced, fellow-campaigner'. 'Ah! those days of my innocence and Parisian bullets!' He sends his regards to Wilkinson's 'ladye-wife'. 'What a cycle of change our minds and bodies undergo! No wonder at the soliloquizing Sterne!' He concludes in wishing 'Health and long life to our friendship and corporal tenements'.
