4pp., 12mo. On bifolium. Good, on lightly-aged paper. The four sides of the bifolium having been filled, the valediction and signature are written upwards across the first page. She thanks the recipient for 'the interesting page of extracts', and for 'the flattering manner in which you allude to my father's mother, Flora McDonald'. Having previously seen the text in an articles she is forwarding, she considers that the lady author has 'taken an unwarrantable liberty by reflecting severely on Flora's descendants for neglecting to keep her grave in good order'. She considers the affair one for 'private consideration', remarking that 'The tombstones have been prepared for the grave and perhaps were a dozen to be sent to Skye, they would share the fate of the original one.' She looks forward to the 'handsome monument to the memory of [her] celebrated grandmother', to be raised by 'the subscription under the management of Mr. Carruthers of Inverness'. She has herself 'endeavoured in my humble way, to add a tribute to her memory by publishing my recent book entitled "Autobiography of Flora McDonald"', which is 'procurable at every library'. The book's publisher, Rimmer of Edinburgh', forwarded the recipient's note to her.
