Autograph poem beginning 'We loved you Colonel Peacock', within coloured decorative border, presented to Lieut-Col. E. B. Peacock by Srikrishna Bhatnagar, 'on behalf of Accounts Section, RAWALPINDI ARSENAL.'
An attractive item, with the poem neatly written out on one side of a piece of 19 x 14cm paper, and placed within a 17.5 x 11.5cm windowpane in a 32.5 x 24.5cm leaf. The poem, consisting of twenty lines arranged in five four-line stanzas, begins: 'We loved you Colonel Peacock | And will always cherish you; | It's a truth; no idle talk, | Though told in words so few.' The last stanza reads: 'Fare you well kind master! | As you go along your way; | "Live long, be happy, and prosper", | We all sincerely pray.' At foot of page: 'Read at the eve of his departure on leave.' The floral decorative border is coloured in green, blue, red and brown, with shields with the Cross of St George in the top corners. At the head of the poem are drawn the Prince of Wales's feathers, and beneath it are the words 'By | Srikrishna Bhatnagar, | Presented to - | Lieut: Col: E. B. Peacock, | on behalf of Accounts section, | RAWALPINDI ARSENAL.'
