One side advertises 'MR LANG'S XMAS BOOK FOR 1895 | THE RED | TRUE STORY BOOK | Edited by Andrew Lang | ILLUSTRATIONS by HJ. FORD', with a design with in a pink border depicting the book with its bright red cover illustrated in gilt. The other side advertises 'ANDREW LANG'S | BOOKS FOR CHILDREN' (Red Fairy Book, Blue Fairy Book, Green Fairy Book, Yellow Fairy Book, Red True Story Book, True Story Book, Blue Poetry Book), with illustration within a yellow border showing a miniature damsel standing amongst a pile of the volumes.
