Typed Letter Signed to Sylvia Lynd, poet and novelist. With photograph.
TLS, The Studio, Carrigoona Cottage, Co. Wicklow; 15 May 1950, 2pp., 8vo. And Photograph. He recalls that SL was 'good enough to read a manuscript of mine several years ago, and since then, after re-reading it, I came to the conclusion that it was perfectly awful. I then on the advice of Sean O'Faolain, added a few more chapters re-wrote and altered the whole thing, and a few weeks ago I signed an agreement with Batsford, to publish it with the title, "An Irish Portrait". I have, as you may imagine, no illusions about it as a piece of literature, but with half-a-dozen reproductions, it may prove a saleable enough book.' With envelope addressed to SL, containing newspaper cuttings of caricatures of Henry and Professor R. M. Henry by 'Shemus'.Photograph of a young Paul Henry, head and shoulders, 6 x 10.5cm, reverse stained and yellowed, right edge ragged, image clear. Photographs of Paul Henry appear to be very thin on the ground. "Paul Henry" written on reverse of the photograph and below the text of the letter in Sheila Lynd's hand.
