A plan for a serious working man's library which found fruition with Hatchard and Knight (not Rivington - a later Prospectus reveals the change - see COPAC, "Prospectus of a new periodical work, the 1st number of which was published on the 1st February, 1820, entitled The plain Englishman's library." - Note "was" published) in the "Plain Englishman" ("The plain Englishman : comprehending original compositions and selections from the best writers, under the heads of the Christian Monitor; the British Patriot; the Fireside Companion / [ed. by C.
