The seven items in very good condition, lightly aged. From the firm's archive, and produced to its highest standards. Partner John Cheney described himself on his calling card (not present) as a 'Printer in Gold, Silver, and Colours', with 'Specialities in the best class of work', and the company's high standards attracted clients from London's West End. ONE: Handbill (1p., 8vo) advertising 'Greeting Cards for Xmas and the New Year.' Dated December 1890. On grey paper with decorative gold border and vignette of foliage. TWO: Handbill (1p., 8vo) in form of letter from 5 Butchers' Row, Banbury, regarding 'High-Class Letterpress Printing' and 'General Commercial Printing'. With decorative gold border, on grey paper. THREE: Handbill (1p., 8vo) from the '"Railway Guide" Office, 5, Butcher's Row, Banbury'. Reminding customers that 'Artistic Gold and Colour Printing is a speciality'. Printed in light-blue, dark-blue and gold. FOUR: Display sheet (1p., 8vo), printed in blue and gold, with the words 'Specialities in Mourning Cards by John Cheney' in large type. FIVE: Notice (1p., landscape 8vo) printed in brown with decorative border, presenting 'our quarterly account'. SIX: Letterhead (1p., 12mo) printed in light and dark blue.
