"I'm afraid any amusing experiences in connection with Rugby Football are hardly printable but I will give you them for what they are worth. 1/ England v Wales 1905 @ Cardiff | I was leaving the playing pitch after the match (score Wales 25 Eng. 0) when a small boy selling 'death cards' came up to me & said 'death card of England, sir?'. Welsh collier next to me said 'Cant you see the b___'s been at the funeral'!" He then tells an anecdote arising from England v France in 1906, when a member of the England party while visiting the tomb of Napoleon, said, "Well! they've got the old b___ safe at last!".
