Barrister and book collector (Boas entry for his son). A. (1824), One page, 4to, grubby, chipped, text complete and readable. "Sir,/ I return you some of the books sent me, & regret exceedgy [sic] that I have not rece[ive]d some of those specified in my list particularly Nos. 2408 & 3982 deducting the book now sent to £2.8. I think my account will be £3.14. this I will discharge the moment I visit London, in about one month - there are several other books I want from ye Catalogue but I must defer, until [cross-written] I have placed your Catalogue on our Library table & will if possible secure you some orders"; B. (1827) Two pages, 4to, grubby, holes not affecting text, sl. chipped, text readable. "Dear Sir,/ Are you aware that when you sent me several pieces by Sir Egerton Brydges printed on the Continent, that ["Cicelia" excised] the [inserted] Cimelia [see Lowndes] was not among them?/ Can you procure fror me a copy of Sir E B's edition of Phillips' Theatrum Poetarum printed in Italy?/ I have a copy of "Valerianus de Infelicitate Literatorum" edited by Sir E B. hf. bound in morocco uncut, but I wish a copy in boards to bind uniform [page 2] with my set of Sir E. B's works, can you accommodate me in exchange?/ You talked to me some time since that you cod. send me a copy of "Singer [underlined] on Playing Cards 4to." that you had from Long[m]an & Co.
