In good condition, lightly aged, in aged andn worn binding. A series of crowded and untidy pages, written in pencil and pen in a number of different hands. Inside front cover: 'Pantry. Book - | Aug. 1854', relating to the main set of entries, running across twelve pages, with emendations in pencil, arranged under the headings: 'Silver & Plate' ('Plate chest - Upper Tray', '2nd Tray', 'Lower Compartment', 'Side Compartment', 'In pantry. Cupboard'), 'Glass', 'Steel Knives & Forks', 'China', 'Sundries', 'Lamps'. Subsequent listings are dated: 16 November 1855, February 1870, 4 March 1868. 5 August 1859, 23 September 1866. November 1869, 3 May 1861. The full panoply of Victorian kitchenware is itemised (presumably in part listed in order to dissuade the servants from theft): asparagus trays, decanter stands, wine labels, 'Japanned Knife tray', 'Soda water machine', 'Brush for washing forks & spoons', 'Palmer lamps to stand with glasses', 'Rose and forget-me-not', 'Silver Sugar bason [sic] (Hussey)' and 'Electroplate'.
