One page, 4to, good condition, note in French with a translation (poor condition) tipped on to the edge of the letter. The note says (in the translation) "The offering that you presnted to the Holy Father on the occasion of the 14th of this month was very favourably received. His Holiness as a witness of his pleasure has deigned to write with his own hand at the bottom of your letter some consoling words. I return it to you there fore with this example of the Pontifical good-will, assuring you of my esteem with which I remain / J. Antonelli." The Pope has written and signed the folowing: Spritus Sancti gratia illuminet sensus et corda nostra, - et Dominus sit semper vobiscum/ Pius PP IX."
