The collection is in fair condition, with rust staples from paper clips and other signs of age and wear. The presence of matter including the manuscript originals of maps makes it clear that the collection derives from Campbell himself. The following description divided into six items. One page, 4to, good condition, note in French with a translation (poor condition) tipped on to the edge of the letter. The note says (in the translation) "The offering that you presnted to the Holy Father on the occasion of the 14th of this month was very favourably received. His Holiness as a witness of his pleasure has deigned to write with his own hand at the bottom of your letter some consoling words.
