They had been 'taken into town' to be sent to Carpenter, but 'in the turning out of all my books from the counting house at the time of the alterations, these were with my other matters taken into a room in Lancaster Place'. He apologises for his 'apparent negligence', but until he puts his 'new room' in order he cannot 'get at these said Pamphlets'.
