The smaller images appear to be photographs of photographs, with captions. These include 'Monkey Dancer', 'Bear Dancer', 'Burning Ghat' (with 'Funeral Pyre' added in manuscript), 'Barbar', 'Rickshaw Puller' (which, with 'Shoe Shining', shows European soldiers), 'Snake Charmer', 'Washerman' (with 'Dhobie Wallah' added in manuscript).
