2 pp, 4to. 25 lines. Text clear and complete. Fair, on lightly-aged paper, with minor traces of stub still adhering to one margin. Addressed to 'Dear Mother'. He is displeased with his aunt, but pleased that his mother is 'so much better'. He goes to Hatton (where Parr had set up a school in 1786) on the Tuesday, 'with the Dr: [i.e. Parr] who desires his Compts. I went with him last night to see Mrs. Siddons who he likes very much. I breakfasted with him yesterday & during the conversation he said "he had not look'd in a book since he'd been in Town that it was very well in the Country, but impossible to read in Town where there were so many amusements" so if he asks me for my Task I shall certainly tell him that if he who was soo [sic] fond of reading could not do it in London, who should he expect me who dont like it a'tall [sic]'. His father has borrowed his 'Two <?>s and has not given me any money since I've been in Town'. He sees 'a great many people that enquire after you & all desire to be remembered to you especially the D[uke]: [of] Leinster & the whole Family they had a fine rout the other night before the D[uke]: of Cumberlands & I was there & we had the Miss Cravens & Mr: Mattock they played on the harp very well as also did Emma Crewe'. He is 'writing now at Fosbrooks, we've had very Good Houses this Week (mum dont let Jimy [sic] look) received in Cash exactly £1870 .. 14 .. 0 this last week by near twice the sum I believe some other weekes'.
