3pp., 4to. In very good condition, on lightly-aged paper. With stamped envelope, bearing Bhavnagar and Harrow postmarks, with typed address to 'R. T. Hughes, Esq. | Aboyne, | Harrow-on-the-Hill. | England.' He begins by thanking Hughes for the 'very pleasant surprise' of 'the unique photograph'. 'It is very kind of you and Mrs. Hughes to send me your good wishes, which are now doubly welcome because Government have declared my minority at an end and I am at the head of affairs of Bhavnagar.' He regrets that 'the effects of influenza obliged us to keep my brother here and give up the idea of his studies in England for the present [...] the doctors advised thorough rest [...] I also think that Dharma did very well in the fencing and one may justly take a little pride in his effort'. He now turns to Harrow School, imagining that it is 'looking lovely now' and hoping that 'you will have a good summer term and change history at Lords [in the annual cricket match against Eton]'. He does not know when he will return to England, but when he does, he will 'look forward to running over to Aboyne to see you and Mrs. Hughes'.
