3pp., 4to. Bifolium. 53 lines. In fair condition, on aged and worn paper, with discoloration at the head of both leaves, not affecting the text of the letter. He is sending his 'account for June; and also a Copy of my journal', having 'returned some days ago from Culna'. He feels that 'Things bear a favourable appearance there', and would like to mention an idea he has had. 'Some respectable people of Krishnugur invited me to come to them & to make that place my residence. (The Doan of a Gentleman wishes it on account of his children) They said "you have no house here in Culna, but in Krishnugur are several unoccupied, the place also is healthy &c."' He discusses the proposal, thinking that it is better for him to live at Krishnugur than put the Committee to the expense of building a new house in Culna. 'Neither should I omit to mention: that Nodia the seat of learning in Bengal is only at a distance from the said place of about 4 or 5 miles; & the populous place Santipore is on the road to Culna | If your Comttee should not feel inclined to extend school exertions to these places yet the practising of the Gospel may be extended to all these places without much expenses, travelling by water being cheap. What a glorious add[itio]n would this make to the field of your Societys exertions if these Capital places were added.' He concludes by reporting that 'we are all doing pretty well', adding that his journal will give 'some account of my labours in Burdwan. The work is here as favourable as in any other place.'
