Autograph additions throughout, including some on the endpapers, in pencil and black and turquoise ink. Among the autograph additions is one relating to the painter J. M. W. Turner. In the book Frederick Turner writes that the artist was sent away in the 1880s to an uncle living in Brentford, and in an autograph note he writes: 'Mr C. Mallord Turner tells me this is incorrect: the painter was sent away because of the birth of a sister.'
