The letter begins: 'Sir, | I had the honor (a great one) of being presented to you, by Lord Palmerston, and of meeting you at the house of Mr Ellis.' As he was received 'with so much kindness', he ventures to ask the favour of being allowed to be 'present in the Chamber of Deputies, to hear the debate on the address', which he considers 'a discussion of so much interest'.
