Handbill, 2pp., 8vo, chipped, fold marks, small closed tears, but text clear and complete. Recruitment of men for Territorial Army (established 1908), giving qualifications, etc: age, height, terms of enlistment, annual requirements, pay during camp and on embodiment (serjeant to Drummer), addresses of committee. Overleaf the Reasons for Joining (defence against ainvasion etc), adding, The heroism of Captain Scott and his gallant comrades in the Antartic [sic] regions should rouse the energy in every Britisher ... This is presumably a reference to the 1904-8 Expedition. The handbill is addressed tTo the Young Men of the Districts of Greenwich, Lewisham, Woolwich, Charlton, Deptford, Eltham, Lee, &c. No other copy yet traced.
