Letter: 1p., 12mo. In fair condition, on lightly-aged paper. Neatly laid down on a page detached from an album, with border. In response to a note from the recipient, he explains that the 'hurry of professional business' has prevented him from making the following statement: 'I beg to assure you that on Monday Jany: 25th. I sent by my own Servant a Card of admission to The Editor & Friend of the National Register, He will now deliver this Note in order to assure you that he left the Card at the Office 182 Fleet St: on the above day.' Also included are two newspaper cutting regarding Smart's death; the first (7 1/4 column inches) is headed 'The Late Sir George Smart', and the second (2 1/2 column inches) 'Death of Sir George Smart'. Both in good condition, on lightly-aged paper, and laid down on blue paper.
