1p., 12mo. In good condition, lightly-aged. He asks him 'to forward these Cards immediately (I have sent one to Mr. Doane) as many have call'd asking if they are to be engaged'. He expresses his regret for 'the mistake in the Name card', but it is too late to alter it. The 'sole cause' of the error was his 'constantly thinking of the state of poor Walker'.

On one side of pink 10.5 x 13.5 cm leaf removed from autograph album. Reads 'Julian Bream | 19/10/65'. A magazine photograph of Bream has been laid down in the bottom left-hand corner of the leaf.

Card, c. 14 x 9cm, blue, vestiges of laying down process on reverse, good condition otherwise. "My dear Yonty, Thank you for your letter & exquisite roses - Can you come to tea on Saturday at 4.30 - Perhaps you can telephone me- With my love | Myra |"

On 13.5 x 16.5 cm piece of light-pink paper removed from autograph album. In very good condition. Reads: 'yours truly | I J Paderewski | 23/XI 1912'.

3pp., 12mo. Bifolium, with Smirke's embossed monogram. Although he and his wife were 'absent in Northumberland', their daughter and a friend were able to make use of Miss Macerone's gift of a card of admission to her concert, and 'very great pleasure' was 'afforded to them by the afternoon's Entertainment.

All four items in good condition, lightly aged and worn. All four in a bold, expansive hand. The two letters accompanied by their envelopes, addressed to Child in London. Letter One: Address: 'c/o Mr & Mrs G. W. Williams, | 615 East Genesee, | Saginaw | Michigan. U.S.A.' 4 July 1957. 4pp., 4to. She is 'on the first lap of my Vacation' and has asked 'Anne' to contact him. 'During the University year I am so frightfully taxed for time - my own correspondence and my personal affairs suffer in consequence and are perforce relegated to the background.

All published by The Frederick Harris Company, London (Item One at 89 Newman Street, Oxford Street; Items Two to Four at 89 Newman Street; and Items Five and Six at 40 Berners Street). All items excessively scarce, with COPAC only recording one copy (at the British Library) of Items One, Two, Three and Five; two copies (British Library and Trinity College Dublin) of Item Four; and no copies of Item Six. Lambert's attractive signature ('Constant Lambert') on piece of 7.5 x 11 cm thin card. Lightly aged and creased, and with evidence of previous mounting on reverse.

12pp., 12mo. In blue printed wraps with title on cover and p.1. Sewn. In good condition, lightly aged, and slight wear to cover, which has a short closed tear at head of back cover. Stamps and label of the Board of Education Reference Library. Scarce: the only copy on COPAC and OCLC WorldCat at Oxford.

Both items 1p., 16mo, and both in good codition, on lightly-aged paper. The first note reads: 'Mr. Charles Hallé presents his respectful compliments to Lady Blanche Drummond and would feel greatly obliged if she would kindly take his lesson to-morrow at 4 o'clock instead of half past three.' The second confirms the time for a second lesson.

Piece of paper, 11 x 7com, tipped on to larger piece of paper. "En attendant les plaisirs recus [?] Mademoiselle les sinceres salutations de votre [serv[an]t?] devoue" (or soenthoing like that, hand difficult).

Both items in good condition, on lightly-aged paper. ONE (letter): 1p., 12mo. In a neat and elegant hand, it reads: 'Tuesday Night | Dear Laura | I send the tickets; as Goldsmith sent the portion of Lord Clare's haunch of venison to Sir Joshua - | "To paint it or eat it, whichever he pleased" | I am glad you like the Philharmonia | Your affecte. Friend | John Hullah'. TWO (cutting of sheet music): Written in pencil on one side of a 6.5 x 15 cm piece of paper, docketted 'Written by John Hullah 1861 | for

1p., 4to. Addressed on reverse to 'Thos Roden'. In fair condition, on lightly aged and creased paper, with Parry's seal (monogram 'P') in red wax. The letter reads: 'Mr Parry's compliments & encloses a couple of Tickets for a private performance on the 20th Inst - Mr P. will feel greatly obliged by the insertion of the enclosed account off the Richmond Concert in the Morning Herald | Dec: 8. 1831'.

Letter: 1p., 12mo. In fair condition, on lightly-aged paper. Neatly laid down on a page detached from an album, with border. In response to a note from the recipient, he explains that the 'hurry of professional business' has prevented him from making the following statement: 'I beg to assure you that on Monday Jany: 25th.

1p., 12mo. On bifolium with mourning border. With mourning envelope addressed by Chatterton to the surgeon 'Henry G. Times Esqre. | Manchester Street | Manchester Square'. Fair, on lightly-aged paper, in aged envelope. The note reads: 'With Balsir Chattertons [sic] best thanks. | Sunday | 32 Manchester Street | Manchester Square'.

The nine items are in good condition, on lightly-aged paper. Items One, Three and Four, from 1962, and stapled together, as are the other six items, dating from 1964-5. ONE: Autograph Letter Signed ('Benjamin Britten') from Britten to Juda. On letterhead of The Red House, Aldeburgh, Suffolk. 25 July 1962. Responding to Item Three below, Britten thanks Juda for 'sending the magnificent book on Graham Sutherland', which Britten is 'very glad indeed to have'.

2pp., 12mo. Good, on lightly-aged paper, with a couple of unobtrusive creases. 'We shall be very pleased to come to tea with you on Sunday - I hope you will not mind if we are a little late - I shall be so glad to see Mrs. Arkwright also. With kind regards and many thanks | Believe me | Yours very sincerely | [signed] Emma Albani Gye'.

4pp., 4to. Bifolium. Good, on lightly-aged paper. Addressed on the reverse of the second leaf to 'T: P: Cooke Esqre | Royal Coburg Theatre', with two postmarks. The two men do not appear to have been related. TSC requests TPC's 'friendly interference to endeavour at getting from Mr.

4 pp, 12mo. Good, on lightly-aged paper. The unnamed recipient appears to have been named as executor in a prvevious will of Sir Henry Bishop. Opens in dramatic style: 'I was very greatly surprised to receive a letter from you this morning, dated from Brighton, as my poor Brother, Sir Henry Bishop, had not the slightest idea that you were still an inhabitant of this world, having heard of your death some time since, in consequence of which, he made another will similar to the one in your possession, but changing the executors'.

Fair, on lightly-aged paper. The publicity photograph of Mrs Patrick Campbell, : Roughly 10.5 x 13 cm. Printed in green. Depicts her leaning forwards, with neck and forearms exposed. Across the foot she has written: 'Beatrice Stella Cornwallis West. | (Mrs. Patrick Campbell)'. Laid down on a leaf from an autograph album, on the reverse of which is Kubelik's signature: 'jan Kubelik | 25.XI.1921'.

On one side of a piece of pink paper, roughly 18 x 7.5 cm, cut from an autograph album. In good condition, on lightly-aged paper. At the head James has written ' "The Sun-God" W. G. James', with the opening two bars beneath this, beneath which he has written the words 'I saw the master of the Sun -' In the bottom right-hand corner: 'Yrs Sincerely | William G. James'. James's music for Aubrey de Vere's poem was first published in 1921.

12mo, 1 p. Four lines. Text clear and complete. Good, on lightly-aged paper. She is 'disengaged' on 18 November, and will be 'pleased to play for you then'.

Apparently a first-person draft of information for an appeal by the oldest surviving member (from the inception of the group) for a stipend. Begins 'Depuis le commencement de l'an 1760 que j'ai ete recu a la Musique du Roi, j'ai été en exercice jusqu'en 1792, avec 222. sujets qui s'y sous dont 40 vivant encore au 18 Janvier 1815. [...]'.

4to, 1 p. Text clear and complete. On aged and creased paper. He is returning the score, and asks Hedgely to 'copy the three voice parts of the two canons Criste Eleison & Crucifixus & the Voice part of the Soprano Song, Gratias Agimus', and to send the whole back 'as soon as you can finish them'.

Dimensions roughly two and a half inches by four and a half wide. Clear, bold signature on aged paper. Reads '<...> believe me Gill's friend as well as your own | [signature] Charlotte H Dolby'. Reverse reads '<...> says, because I get mixed up with such a lot of people, and lose my individuality in the <...>'.
