Collection of Victorian horological ephemera, comprising eight posters, two illustrated catalogues, four printed price lists, and four receipts. [American Clocks included].

The collection, consisting of eighteen items, would appear to derive from J. L. Cocker, to whom one of the receipts is made out. Eight posters, all but the last in fair condition, aged and lightly worn; and all but Number printed in black and white. Items Three and Eight have the firm's address repeatedly printed on the reverse, so that the particular timepieces in which the customer is interested can be cut away from the sheet. 'Diprose, Bateman & Co., Printers, 9 and 10, Sheffield Street, Lincoln's Inn Fields, W.C.,' 4to, [ii]+24 + [ii] pp. In poor condition. Aged, and lightly-stained internally, with heavier staining to first and last pages. Front wrap survives. Some leaves detached. Numerous illustrations of timepieces, divided into various groups (e.g. 'German-American Clocks' and 'Seth Thomas Dials'). The four PRICE LISTS are all by Alfred Lea of Albion Street, Leeds. Two are for 'Anglo-American Clocks', one for 'British Plate Looking Glasses', and the last a 'Wholesale Price List for American & German Timepieces.' All four are 8vo bifoliums, printed on three pages. Three of the four have prices added in manuscript. Three of the four are aged, but clear and complete; the fourth (Anglo-American clocks, dated in pencil 1879) is worn, with loss and staining due to damp. The four manuscript RECEIPTS, three from Alfred Lea of Leeds, are each 12mo, 1 p. One is dated 25 October 1879, and made out to J. L. Cocker (of Cocker & Son, London?).
