These three log books, covering a period of nearly eighty years, constitute an attractive piece of social history, charting the growth of a rural school from precarious beginnings to a secure state on the eve of the Second World War, and providing a vivid example of the change in the British educational system from the nineteenth to the twentieth century.

Book by Knight & Co. of Fleet St, Local Government Publishers, and with printed title-page reproducing extract from 'New Code, 1871', regarding keeping of school log books. Half-bound in faded red-cloth and worn buff calf. Spine detached along one side. Internally sound. An invaluable piece of local history, containing a mass of information about curriculum, pupil numbers, illness, staff. Signed by various school inspectors.
