The note reads: 'My dear Sir! | I am very sorry that, being commanded by the Queen to attend one of her Balls, it is not possible to accept your friendly invitation for the 24th May. Every faithfully your | von Raumer | L. 17th. May 36'. Von Raumer was in England from 1835 to 1836.
