Thomson's friend Burns worked with him on the Scottish and Welsh melodies, which were arranged by Haydn and others. As Haydn's health was failing, Thomson turned to Beethoven for the arrangements of the Irish melodies, the first group of which were sent to him in 1809. 4pp., 8vo. Paginated 1-4. Unbound bifolium, stabbed as issued. In good condition, lightly-aged. Beneath the drophead title on the first page: 'On the 30th of May 1817, will be published the THIRD and CONCLUDING Volume of | Select Welsh Melodies; | [...]'.

Printed in brown on one side of a 20.5 x 25.5 cm piece of grey paper. In very good condition, lightly aged. An attractive production, with the text in a variety of fonts and point sizes. Beneath the heading 'Christmas Season, 1890.', the left-hand side of the page carries an engraving of eighteenth-century party-goers descending a staircase into a room in which is the sign 'Ludwig's Showroom for Xmas & New Year Presents.' On the right of the page the text reads: '84, High Street, Banbury. | J. H. Ludwig | Calls attention to his Season's Novelties in every Department | Showroom is now ready.

1p., 16mo. Good, on lightly-aged paper. The note reads: 'My dear Sir! | I am very sorry that, being commanded by the Queen to attend one of her Balls, it is not possible to accept your friendly invitation for the 24th May. Every faithfully your | von Raumer | L. 17th. May 36'. Von Raumer was in England from 1835 to 1836.

4to, 180 pp. In original 'Emberlin & Son' ledger, with red leather half-binding, black cloth, marbled endpapers. Text clear and complete. In fair condition, on aged paper, in worn binding. Minutes signed by G. H. Spray, B. W. Tucker, W. B. Alexander, J. B. E. Say, William G. Dyson, Alan Newton. Numerous programmes (with lists of officers) tipped-in, along with one set of rules and a poster with large engraving of bird (a smaller version of which features on the programmes), printed by the Holywell Press.

A total of 36 pp in 8vo. First section (12 June 1847 to 22 July 1852): 16 pp, at around 30 lines per page. Second section (1 January 1862 to 29 December 1864): 20 pp, at around 40 lines per page. All text clear and complete. Good, on aged paper, with minor unobtrusive repair to last two leaves of first section. Both sections unbound, in separate sewn gatherings. The diary is unsigned, but the context establishes the author beyond doubt as Lonsdale's wife Mary Jane, daughter of Mary Littledale (1779-1855), widow of Anthony Littledale of Bolton Hall, Yorkshire.

12mo, 1 p. Good, on lightly-aged and ruckled paper. He explains that the 'remaining dates of the 4tett Class had to be alterered', given the alternatives. 'I hope you will not be inconvenienced by that change and that you kindly will assent to it.' He gives the date of her next lesson, to which he looks forward.
