Subtitle: "Being an Authentic Account of the Struggle between University and King's Colleges for the Possession of Phineas, Monday, December 4, 1922, Phineas being a statuette ("the mascot of an old tobacconist, which was regularly stolen by students in the 1930s [sic]. The kind (and probably harassed) tobacconist decided to present the highlander to the Union and the mascot now resides in the bar.")

6pp., 12mo, paginated 41-46. Unbound stab-stitched pamphlet. A frail survival: aged and worn. Priced at half a crown, and with the following note above the slug: 'No. 9 will be published on Thursday, June 4. | N.B. - All communications to be directed to Mr. Smith, Rose Crescent, which, it is requested, may be post-paid.' The number is almost entirely devoted to an anonymous burlesque play titled 'The Blood-Stained Murderer; or, The Cock and Charley'.

These ten items were produced at the height of the surge of outrage with which the American left greeted the killing of four students by National Guardsmen at Kent State University, Ohio, on 4 May 1970. (As an example of the incident's wider cultural significance, see the song 'Ohio' by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.) Originating from New York, six of the items are dated from the end of the same month, and the other undated items date from the same period. All ten items are single leaves. Eight of them are 8vo, one is 21 x 18cm, and the other 35 x 21cm.
