1p., 12mo. In fair condition, on lightly aged and worn paper. The letterhead, printed in gothic type, in black with red capitals on the first line, reads: 'On letterhead of 'Odd Volumes: | United once a month to form a perfect Sette. | Objects: Conviviality and Mutual Admiration.' Bevan apologies to Cooke for being unable to 'come to your Gathering', as he is 'engaged that evening to take out my wife'. He concludes by lamenting that as he is leaving for Italy the following day, the present letter will have to be his 'only tribute, alas. But I hope you will read into it a lot of things difficult to write.'

Bevan begins by stating that he has had no reply to his letter of 8 May. 'I now hand thee a small account against W P's estate which I should be pleased to have closed by payment. - At the same time I inform thee I have in my possession R Phillips (of Lond) [i.e. Sir Richard Phillips] bill for a proof under City seal respecting W P.'s Estate in Maryland £4. 2.
