Two items sewn together, with additional two ALSs dividing them, disbound, no wraps. First item: (Printed) "Catalogue of Manuscripts for Sale", 16pp. 8vo, inc. title, trimmed at bottom with slight loss of text, initially listing subscribing authors by name or by the titles of books they have published, also listing other subscribersand giving the name of the secretary, J. Playster Steed. Classes of works are then listed (from novels to theology, offer made of "proof slips 3 vol. novels . . . previous to publication in book form (section headed "Provincial Press").

8vo: 21 pp. Stitched and unbound. Tastefully printed on good watermarked laid paper. Aged, and with the covers grubby. Priced and named to lot 113, and with a few of the other lots priced in pencil. A slip, dimensions 2.5 x 15.5 cm, has been cut away from the beginning of the sale (pp.3-4), resulting in the loss of the entries for three lots (12, 13 and 14). Scarce, with no copy listed on COPAC or WorldCat.

Facts relating to the trial, which took place in the Court of King's Bench, 23rd of February, 1816, in which Mr. John Walker Anderson was plaintiff, and Lieut.-Col. Sir Wm. Hamilton, (late Lieutenant-Governor of Heligoland,) was defendant.

Octavo: 16 pp. Stitched and unbound. In original brown printed wraps. Dogeared, and on slightly discoloured paper. Wraps creased and worn. According to a prefatory note by Hamilton (dated 'London, May 28th, 1816'), a 'Statement of Facts, relative to the Trial which took place in the Court of King's Bench, on the 23rd of February last, (in which Mr. John Walker Anderson, the Plaintiff, obtained a Verdict of £2000 Damages for false Imprisonment, whilst in Heligoland, against Lieutenant-Colonel Sir William Hamilton, late Lieutenant-Governor of that Island, the Defendant'.

Octavo: [vi] + 24 pp. Stapled and unbound. Detached from original blue and pink printed wraps (advertising W. S. Lincoln & Son, coin and medal dealers of New Oxford Street, London). Several illustrations and tables. Good, though lightly aged, and with some wear and creasing to the wraps, which are blue on the outside and pink internally. Several other items by Ratcliff are recorded, but this item is rare, with no copy listed on COPAC.
