The fifteen items are in good condition, lightly aged and worn. Totalling 19pp., 12mo; 4pp., 8vo; 1p., 4to. Eleven signed 'Rudge', three 'J. Rudge Harding', and one 'J. Rudge H.' Ten addressed to 'My dear Alderson', four to 'My dear Horne', and one to 'My dear Alderson Horne'. A friendly, chatty correspondence.

Autograph Letter Signed ('W. J. Newton') from the miniature painter Sir William John Newton to James Lakyn, regarding damage to his house in Argyle Street caused by building works.

12mo, 3 pp. Text clear and complete. Fair, on aged paper. 'Mr Westmacott [the sculptor Richard Westmacott the younger?]' has called on him, and he has 'shown him the settlement all down my Wall - I told him that you had seen it but did not contemplate any immediate danger - he said that Mr Valpy [Henry Valpy (fl.1851-1885) of the architects Burrell & Valpy] was out of town'. Westmacott will write to Valpy, as he thinks there ought to be 'a conference with' Lakyn, who 'should be requested to make a report'.

Engraved Ticket of Admission 'For the Trial of Warren Hastings Esq.', twenty-eighth day, illustrated with the crest of Deputy Great Chamberlain Burrell. Signed 'Stamford.', with the Earl's seal in red wax.

On one side of a piece of laid paper, 18.5 x 14 cm. Aged and grubby, with closed tears and slight loss to top left-hand corner. Laid down on piece of brown paper. Larger than the ticket allowing the bearer to 'Pass and Repass'. The engraved crest ('Sub Libertate Quietem'), roughly 9 x 6 cm, has above it the words, 'For the Trial of Warren Hastings Esq.', and beneath it 'Peter Burrell Dy. Great Chamberlain'. Beneath this a laurel wreath and the words 'Twentyeighth Day'. Stamford's signature, at the foot, has to its left the red wax seal, with the faint impression of his crest.
