Frontispiece facsimile of the first page of the 'draft of contract for Woodrow Wilson's History of the United States - to be sold with six letters relating thereto, each signed by him'. In printed wraps. In fair condition, on aged and worn paper. 949 lots, from a 1758 letter from James Abercrombie, Commander of the British Forces in America, to an 1899 letter from the Prince de Yturbide. Includes full-page facsimile of 'last page John Adams' fine letter on independence', and half-page facsimile of 'last page Roosevelt's letter on the management of Congress'.

Part One: [4] + 247pp., 4to (including introduction by 'M. K. [i.e. Mitchell Kennerley]'). Part Two: [3] + 220pp., 4to (paginated 249-468). Perforated bidding sheet at end of Part Two. Internally in good condition, on lightly-aged paper, in worn and stained wraps with loss at spines. Attractively designed, with numerous illustrations and facsimiles in text. The cover of the first volume carries the ownership signature of John A. Holland at the head, and the prices of the sale's 1482 lots are given in Holland's hand.

4to, 1 p. 15 lines. Text clear and complete. Fair, on aged paper. In green ink. He is pleased that her 'footsteps are treading in high places', and hopes that this 'leads to as much golden reward as it seems to suggest'. He will see her friend 'Mr. Kennerley', but he cannot be 'encouraging' as he is not at present 'casting any picture', and will not be doing so for 'a month or so'. His 'activities now never seem to bring [him] to Hampstead', he hopes she will see him when she visits his 'neighbourhood'.
