Part One: [4] + 247pp., 4to (including introduction by 'M. K. [i.e. Mitchell Kennerley]'). Part Two: [3] + 220pp., 4to (paginated 249-468). Perforated bidding sheet at end of Part Two. Internally in good condition, on lightly-aged paper, in worn and stained wraps with loss at spines. Attractively designed, with numerous illustrations and facsimiles in text. The cover of the first volume carries the ownership signature of John A. Holland at the head, and the prices of the sale's 1482 lots are given in Holland's hand.

1p., 12mo. Addressed on reverse to 'Messrs: Cadell & Davies | Booksellers, | Strand, | London.', with faint Hadleigh postmark. Good, on lightly-aged paper. Trimmed and repaired, with traces of previous mounting. He writes: 'Gentlemen, | I will thank you to pack up separately two copies of my Literary Hours [published in 1798] & to direct one P. L. Courtier Esqr. [the poet Peter Lionel Courtier (1776-1847)] & the other Mr. Jones. These copies, which you will place to my account, will be sent for by Mr. Sharpe of Piccadilly.

On one side of a piece of wove paper. Dimensions of paper roughly 25.5 x 35.5 cm; dimensions of image 23.5 x 35 cm. Image clear and entire on lightly aged and creased paper with a little spotting. The margins of the print have been trimmed, resulting in the loss at the foot of the leaf of the printer's slug ('Printed and Published by G. Drake, 12, Houghton-Street, Clare-market.').
