The author begins by pointing out that as the 'ordonnances des Colonies' forbid the exportation of negroes from one French colony to another, such an exportation must be authorised 'd'une maniere autentique par les administrateurs'. Otherwise 'les Negres, le Cape. Blanc, son navire & sa cargaison' could have been seized by the first royal vessel they encountered, or in the first port at which they docked.

Le Blanc has received Weigel's twenty-second catalogue, and it has given him pleasure. Like the others it is full of curious details, and is extremely useful to Le Blanc, being full of curious details. He orders several items (crossed through by the firm), the last of which he desires 'vivement' to own.

The article describes the correspondence amassed by Sherwill (a friend of William Upcott) relating to his ascent of Mont Blanc in 1825, quoting from letters of Catharine Hutton, Charles Fellows, Edward Bootle Wilbraham, Martin Barry and Comte Henri de Tilly. 'In 1840 he presented it to the Bibliotheque Royale de France.
