Each letter 1p., 4to. Both in good condition, lightly-aged. The first letter begins: 'The Livings Committee of this College has been considering how best to fill the vacancy at Kegworth caused by the death of Canon Devereux [Edward Robert Price Devereux (d.1941), Canon of Winchester Cathedral]. I have been asked to approach you as to whether you would be ready to consider going to Kegworth if we offered you the living.' Raven refers to 'happy memories' of Hood's visit to Cambridge, and asks whether he is able 'to consider leaving Keighley'.

24pp., 12mo. Stitched into brown card wraps. Near fine on lightly-aged paper. Title-page on front cover, and drop-head title on p.1. An excessively scarce item, with no copy listed on COPAC or OCLC.

4pp., 12mo. On two bifoliums. Good, on lightly-aged paper. To an unknown recipient. The letter begins: 'Dear Sir | I shall be glad to be of any service to an intending fellow traveller in the Holy Land.' In eight numbered paragraphs, discussing: dragomans ('I was fortunate enough to secure a trustworthy native servant at Jaffa, who had all the knowledge & experience of a dragoman, without the insolence & extravagance which is common to the class. His name was Abdullah of Bethlehem. [...] He charged me on an average £1.

2pp., 12mo. Fair, on aged paper. In pencil at head: 'Autograph of the Rev W. B. O. Peabody'. In ink in a contemporary hand, between the title and body of text: 'Autograph of Mr Peabody '. Twenty-four lines, arranged in three eight-line stanzas. The text presented here differs in certain respects from that printed in A. P. Putnam's 'Singers and Songs of the Liberal Faith' (1875). In the present version the first stanza reads: 'Black the heaven is overcast! | Breathless is the sultry blast.?>

1p., 4to. 18 lines of text. Fair, on aged paper, with a few closed tears. Addressed on the reverse, with three postmarks and Pusey's seal in black wax broken in two, to 'Rev. Wm. H. Hale | Charter-house'. Writing in a tight, difficult hand, Pusey begins with a reference to an 'intended present' from Hale (from the context clearly a copy of Hale's edition of Jeremy Taylor's 'Doctrine and Practice of Repentence'). Pusey praises 'the earnest, energetic truth-speaking language of Bp. Taylor', which he considers 'a voice as from another world'.

1p., 12mo. Good, on lightly-aged paper. He has Greenough's letter to hand, and has examined his 'Belcher memoranda, and find that my whole stock is invested in the Hist. of Camb.' He regrets that he is unable to assist Greenough in his enquiries. He closes 'With pleasant memories of your Grandfather, and with the Compliments of the season'. The engraved portrait of a bearded Paige in late middle-age, has beneath it a facsimile of his signature. It is in good condition, neatly presented and lightly attached to a paper mount.
