The first page begins: 'It is presumed we have now refuted the arguments, if arguments they may be called, of those who dispute our being bound to observe the sabbath; but there still remains another question - how it is to be observed?

He next turns to his desire for a meeting and 'walk in the afternoon', although he knows 'this is a long way off and you are very busy'. He ends with transport information and the news: 'However I am going away on Monday for 3 weeks.' The valediction is in Murray's autograph: 'Yours sincerely, | G. M.'

He begins by informing the recipient that his 'last Letter has made ample atonement for the provocation of the preceding', and he has 'ever been the foremost, both in word & deed, to keep my wings in motion. I speak this seriously: my former note was only a temporary petulance'. The second paragraph begins: 'I must positively have another Paper for my Orators'. He has 'run to a fearful length, & yet have cramped myself all the way.

Autograph Letter Signed ('H B Swete') by the English biblical scholar Henry Barclay Swete, giving detailed advice 'to an intending fellow traveller in the Holy Land', with a description of his 'own route'.

His name was Abdullah of Bethlehem. [...] He charged me on an average £1.

Neatly laid down on a piece of blue paper docketed 'Written by | [signature] Hubert Smith | 4 March 1884. Smith was the town clerk of Bridgnorth, but he is best-known as the husband of the Gypsy Esmeralda Lock, who left him for Francis Hindes Groome (1851-1902) and was painted by Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
