2pp., 4to. On a single leaf of aged and worn paper. 56 lines of text (26 lines to each page), with one emendation ink (deleted) and another in pencil. Apparently unpublished. The first page begins: 'It is presumed we have now refuted the arguments, if arguments they may be called, of those who dispute our being bound to observe the sabbath; but there still remains another question - how it is to be observed?

1p., landscape 12mo. In fair condition, on aged and lightly-creased paper. He begins: 'This is just a line to say how very good I thought your answer to Quintin Hogg.' He next turns to his desire for a meeting and 'walk in the afternoon', although he knows 'this is a long way off and you are very busy'. He ends with transport information and the news: 'However I am going away on Monday for 3 weeks.' The valediction is in Murray's autograph: 'Yours sincerely, | G. M.'

Card, 11 x 9cm. very good condition. Printed text as follows: "Herzlichen Dank fur den freundlichen Gluckwunsch* [by his hand], der mich sehr erfreut hat. | Munchen | Nov. 1910." Written by him: "Paul Heyse *und das schone schone [Gedrint?]!"

Card, 11 x 9", stuck on to piece of blank paper with stamp hinges, carefully put together after having been torn into pieces, joints showing but text readable: "Dear Madam, | This letter of your late husband has turned up after my first answer to your request. so I send it in pursuance of your wish."

1p., 4to. In good condition, on lightly-aged and creased paper. Salzman's book had been published by Heffers of Cambridge in the previous year, and Brown finds that its 'scraps make such excellent feeding'.

2pp., 12mo. In a windowpane mount on a leaf removed from an album. The letter itself very good, on aged paper; the mount worn at extremities. He begins by informing the recipient that his 'last Letter has made ample atonement for the provocation of the preceding', and he has 'ever been the foremost, both in word & deed, to keep my wings in motion. I speak this seriously: my former note was only a temporary petulance'. The second paragraph begins: 'I must positively have another Paper for my Orators'. He has 'run to a fearful length, & yet have cramped myself all the way.

4pp., 12mo. On two bifoliums. Good, on lightly-aged paper. To an unknown recipient. The letter begins: 'Dear Sir | I shall be glad to be of any service to an intending fellow traveller in the Holy Land.' In eight numbered paragraphs, discussing: dragomans ('I was fortunate enough to secure a trustworthy native servant at Jaffa, who had all the knowledge & experience of a dragoman, without the insolence & extravagance which is common to the class. His name was Abdullah of Bethlehem. [...] He charged me on an average £1.

1p., 12mo. Good, on lightly-aged paper. 'Revd. Thos. Hartwell Horne presents his respectful Comps. to the Rt. Hon. Lord Londesborough; and regrets that the state of his health will not allow him the pleasure of being present at his Lordship's Conversazione, on the 21st. inst.'

On one side of piece of paper approximately 18 x 8.5 cm. Neatly placed in a windowpane mount of laid paper, 25 x 20 cm. Good, on lightly-aged paper. Written in a clear, firm hand: 'John Hunter LL.D. | Profr. of Humanity | St. Andrews. | Fife.' Beneath this, along the foot of the page, in a small hand (identified in note on mount as 'The writing of Dr Dick, author of "The Christian Philosopher &c'): 'Dr Hunter is about 90 years of age, and still retains his bodily & mental vigour | This Autograph was written in Feby. 1834. T. D.'

4to, 2 pp. In bifolium. Text clear and complete. On aged, spotted and worn paper. Docketed at head 'Augt 1788 - Heyne.' and, in another hand, 'Professor Heyne's Handwriting at Göttingen University'. Twenty-three items listed, beginning with 'Aristoteles de mirabilibus auscultationibus per Beikman', and ending with 'Plato. et Platonis argumenta per Tiedeman', and including 'Tibullus Heyne' and 'Epictetus Heyne'.

Piece of paper, c.17.5 x 11cm, fold mark down middle, good condition. The initialled poem, four lines, is headed "Love" ("Poor is the man who in self-hardened shell . . . . And grows to great estate by loving great and small." The next heading is "Life" folowed by the line "Why stay us on the earth, unless to grow. | Browning", followed by the heading "Evil", with the line, "I gulp down the devil, without looking at him. | Goethe's Werther".

12mo, 2 pp. Good on lightly aged paper. Folded twice. Traces of previous mount adhering to reverse of blank second leaf of bifolium. The recipient 'cannot be more conservative' than Burgon himself. 'But remember - it is the interpretation of the Rubric in question which is causing us all this difficulty.

4to (26.5 x 22 cm), 2 pp, 30 lines of text. On discoloured and lightly creased and stained paper, with some chipping to extremities, but with text clear and entire.

12mo: 2 pp. Eleven lines of text. Very good. Having just received it from London, Rodd is sending Crawford the book he could not get in Rome which he wanted to send him as a birthday present. 'It is written by a great friend of mine who knows better than any one the history of the first voyages to America and the discovery of the Great Southern Sea. I think you will like it.' In an envelope, on aged paper, with postmarks and Italian postage stamp. Addressed to 'Harold Crawford, Villa Crawford, St Agnello di Sorrento'.

[Vatican Librarian; Archivist of the Vatican Secret Archive; subject of Shane Leslie's biography;Three pages, octavo. Good, on lightly aged and spotted paper, with crease to second leaf of bifolium. Regarding Rev. J. R. McKee's translation of Arnold Oskar Meyer's 'England and the Catholic Church under Queen Elizabeth'. He has received McKee's letter. 'When I promised this to the Professor more than two years ago I did not contemplate having to leave England altogether & still less had I any dream of the war, which has interrupted all relations with German friends'.

Two columns of small type, in total seventeen inches long and each two and a half inches wide. Good, on lightly aged paper. Neatly laid down on a piece of blue paper docketed 'Written by | [signature] Hubert Smith | 4 March 1884. Smith was the town clerk of Bridgnorth, but he is best-known as the husband of the Gypsy Esmeralda Lock, who left him for Francis Hindes Groome (1851-1902) and was painted by Dante Gabriel Rossetti.

Oriental linguist and biblical scholar (1812-94). Paper dimensions roughly sixteen centimeters by eight. Paper creased and foxed. Mounted on slightly-larger piece of brown paper. In French. Reads 'Que la paix de Dieu multipliee a toute votre famille, et que cette dispensation soit dirigee a la gloire du Nom qui est invoque sur nous!' Signed 'Cr. Malan.'
