2pp., 4to. Good, on lightly-aged paper. Written in a difficult, crabbed hand. The 'gentleman' Children has sent him 'is somewhat in the circumstances of Mr H<?>. He appears to possess some mathematical Knowledge; but to have adopted visionary Systems of Physics'. He goes on to describe the man's theory, which is 'contrary to probability' and 'in opposition to all previously existing opinions'. In a postscript he states that he has had a 'second interview'. The engraving of 'Davies Gilbert, Esq. M.P. P.R.S.' is by J.

1p., 4to. Good, on lightly-aged paper. Meriam is enclosing a 'copy of bill appropriating $350 per annum for two years for the education &c of Onondaga Indian Children which was signed by the Governor on the 5th Inst'. The letter ends with Meriam reporting the receipt of two letters. Syracuse University Library holds a collection of 'Ebenezer Meriam Letters on Onondaga Indian Education', including eight from May.

8vo, 23 pp. In original yellow printed wraps. Text clear and complete. Fair, on aged paper; wraps worn and with slight loss to a couple of corners. Red label on rear cover: 'Education Department. Reference Department.' Library stamp and shelf marks on front cover and title page. Signed in type at end: 'ADAM CROOKS, | Minister of Education.

Folio, 110 pp, comprising [i] + 68 + [ii] + 39 pp. Handsome volume in slipcase, tight and internally in very good condition, on lightly-aged thick Whatman paper. Well bound in black leather morocco, all edges gilt. Binding blind-tooled and with 'Early Days' and 'W. V. S.' in gilt on spine and motto on front board: 'Nourish the sentiments thy principles approve and put thy trust and confidence in God.' Binding worn and rebacked, in worn black cloth slipcase.

Folio, 27 pp. Unbound and stapled. Ownership signature ('Cross') of S. T. Cross, of the Registry of the International Court of Justice in the Hague. Good, on lightly-aged paper, with closed tear at head of first leaf, and indentation from paperclip. Sections on child welfare, the traffic in women, licensed houses, women police, emigration and propaganda.

Four pages, 16mo, inc. address page, one chip and some staining marginally affecting text. She is happy to accept his invitation, and accepts it on behalf of her daughter and Mr Romilly [her son-in-law]. "Mr E. Romilly feels some scruple at accepting an invitation which it is possible urgent business in the house [Parliament] would prevent him from waiting on you." In a postscript she reminds him that he has offered his support in the ballot at the Athenaeum on the following Monday.

Typed on one side of 86 quarto leaves, the latter leaves paginated and ending with 86. In printed wraps neatly tied with blue ribbon. Somewhat dusty but in good condition overall. According to the British Library catalogue the story was published by Unity Products in 1949. Patch is a dog, and the first few leaves contain eleven charming illustrations his friends, including Scragg, Tatters and Madame Sing-Hi.
