THE LETTER: 1 page, 8vo. Grubby and with jagged closed tear to one edge not affecting text. He thanks him for the note '& the enclosures with their prophetic words. How slow the material world is to react to the vision of its seers!' He hopes his 'little essay' will be of interest. He concludes 'Patrick Duncan was the only Milner man I knew & he, of course, has passed over.

Naval officer and Conservative politician (1846-1919), nicknamed 'the member for the navy'. Dimensions roughly 5 1/2 inches by 9 inches. In poor condition: browning and with several closed tears. Reads: 'From the older Charlie to the younger Charlie may all good luck attend you fighting for tariff reform national defence and relief of the unemployed Beresford'.

English playwright, screenwriter and director, born 1946. 4 pages, folio bifoliate. On yellow paper. Stain at head of first page and somewhat creased, but in good condition overall. The contract is printed for Anthony Blond Limited by Frank Rook Ltd. The relevant passages are filled in in manuscript, including a description of the work to be published as a 'selection of poetry written by the author for inclusion in a volume provisionally entitled Blondbooks Poetry 2'. There does not appear to be any record of this book in the British Library catalogue.
