A mixture of gothic and roman type, within a decorative pseudo-Arabic border enclosing the words 'Edition de Luxe.' at the head, and 'Grolier Society London' at the foot. The text begins 'A Plain and Literal Translation of the Arabian Night's Entertainments now entituled the Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night with introduction explanatory notes on the manners and customs of Moslem men and a terminal essay upon the nights in twelve volumes by Richard F. Burton.

4 pp, 12mo. Bifolium. 51 lines. Text clear and complete. Fair, on lightly-aged paper. The General Committe have asked Besant to thank the recipient for his 'kind assistance during the last year, and to express their hopes that your sympathy with the objects which they have at heart will still continue'.

12mo, 2 pp. Letter on one leaf and Morier family tree on another. Clear and complete. Seventeen-line letter and detailed family tree. Very good, on lightly-aged paper. With original envelope, with stamp and postmark, addressed by Sealy to 'Lieut-Commander H. C. Lukach RNVR | Chief Secretary's Office | TROODOS | Cyprus'. After a brief reference to the 'Morier stuff', most of the letter relates stamp collecting ('Salonikas' and 'Long Island overprinted on Turkish').

On a piece of grey paper roughly 25 x 22 cm, with card backing. The backing is rough-edged, the picture having been removed from its mount, but the edges of the print itself are undamaged. A little grubby, and with minor spotting and staining. Depicts the moustachioed sitter's head in profile, looking to his right, wearing a white guthra with decorative igaal. The image includes a reproduction of Jemmett's signature in the bottom right-hand corner, with the sitter's signature, in Arabic script, reproduced in the bottom left-hand corner.

One page, 8vo, some spotting but mainly good condition, complete and legible. "I send you a translation of an Arabian Tale written by Al Mohdi, an employé [underlined] of the French govt during the time that Egypt was occupied by the French Army. It has been modified & abridged for some of the details were unfit for European eyes & others would not be understood without lengthened notes. I had at one time designed to transate the entire collection, for in my opinion many of the stories surpass those of the Arabian Nights.
