The address and valediction of a letter have been cut away, on two strips. With mourning border. In good condition, lightly aged, and laid down on leaf removed from album. The address (3 x 10.5 cm) reads: 'The Green Hill. Hampstead. | May 21st. 1855.' The valediction (4 x 11.5 cm) reads: '[...] of its place or influence in placing it. | I am Sir | Your Obedt Servt. | C Stanfield'.

Philadelphia twenty-shilling Bill of Credit

Printed on both sides of a piece of 7 x 9 cm paper. Worn and aged, with damage along edges on both sides, affecting a few words of text, but not the signatures. Both sides with ornate decorative borders. On one side with printing details and decorative pattern of foliage; the other with the number filled in in manuscript, engraving of Royal Crest, and printed declaration, dated 'in the sixteenth Year of the Reign of His Majesty GEO. the Third. Dated at Philadelphia, the 8th Day of December, 1775. Signed at foot 'Jos Redman', 'Wm. Smith' and 'M Clarkson' (the second signature faded).

Folded twice. Grubby and lightly creased, with dog-eared corners. Reads '[signed] Michael Meredith | No 6 Blomfield St | Finsbury Circus | [signed] C Stanfield R A | Mornington Place | Novr. 20th. 1825. From a collection of material relating to the Artists' General Benevolent Fund.
