Auction Catalogue, 50pp., 8vo, beige printed paper wraps, stitched, dulled, minor nick to spine, pencilled notes on cover, "Hazlitt" and "Defective.Small part of page 9 apparently burnt away; description of item 226 (p.21) cut out with loss also of most of 238 and all of 239 (p.22). The cutting out of this led to a cut in page 23 with no loss of text. The auction includes The Hazlitt Papers (letters by Hazlitt, The Lambs, Leigh Hunt etc), and some interesting Shakepeariana. Three pages, 12mo, bifolium, good condition. She has found a letter to W.C. Hazlitt from her correspondent about Margaret Hazlitt's diary and asks its whereabouts. Her letter about it in "The Times" had produced no results, and P.P. Howe (extensive writer on her "great grandfather William Hazlitt") would like very much to find it still existed. SAhe concludes, "It is now my care to keep the Grave of William Hazlitt in good order at St Anne's Soho".

1p., 8vo (25 x 18.5 cm). In fair condition, on lightly-aged and worn paper. 19 lines, printed in a variety of fonts and point sizes, in a style characteristic of the period. Headed: 'HUNTS. COUNTY COUNCIL. | TECHNICAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE. | DISTRICT OF ST. IVES.' Signed in type by Hazlitt at the end. 'The Lectures are FREE to all; and it is hoped that many people will attend them, as they will be of a Homely, Useful and Practical Character.'

2pp., 12mo. On bifolium. Fair, on lightly-aged paper. In envelope, with stamp and postmarks, addressed to 'John J. Baron Esqr. | 48 Griffin St. | Witton | Blackburne | Lancashire'. Although Hazlitt's handwriting is legendarily attrocious, the reader escapes lightly on this occasion. Hazlitt regrets that he has no copy of either of the books Baron names, as he 'printed only a few copies for presents. Nor have I any photograph of myself.' He is 'extremely glad that the perusal of my publications' has 'proved agreeable' to Baron.

One page, 12mo, good condition. From a batch of letters, many of which are addressed to A. Williams of the "Liverpool Mercury", but no certain identification. Hazlitt says, "I send you sundry autographs, genuine as imported. I will not forget your wishes in this respect when other notable Manuscripts occur to me."

A specialist on Dickens and Tennyson, Cuming Walters was for many years a central figure in the literary life of the north-west of England. Shortly before his death (and as reported in The Times, 28 April 1932) he boasted of having written 'between 15,000 and 20,000 leading articles, nearly 20,000 reviews of books, 8,000 dramatic notices, and 15,000 special articles. He had published about 20 books and had written 250 lectures.' The present collection is divided into two parts. A.

Son (1811-93) of the essayist (1778-1830), and editor of his works. Three pages, 12mo. Stained and grubby. Docketed, with date on blank reverse of second leaf of bifoliate. He will be pleased to see the portrait which his correspondent describes. 'I very well remember that there was a chalk portrait by Bewick which would seem to be that you mention and there was an engraving of it in the life of my Father which I wrote some short time after his death & I do not remember whence that impression was derived.
