Both items in good condition, on lightly-aged paper. The first item in its envelope, addressed to 'Mrs. Robert Lynd | 14 Downshire Hill | Hampstead'. Both addressed to 'Mrs. Lynd.' ONE: 4pp., 4to. She begins by thanking Lynd 'for "The Chorus". I feel a wretch beyond redemption & there are not enough excuses in St. Ives to meet the case - I had to get those two big portraits finished & off to the Nat. Portrait Soc: & a nightmare of a time it was I thought - I would never pull them out of Hell's seventh Ditch and up to Bond St - but there they are it appears'. TWO: 4pp., 12mo.

4pp., 12mo. Bifolium. In good condition, on aged paper. Reed was a collector of autographs, and has written his accession mark in a small hand at the foot of the first page. Headed by Cardwell 'Private'. He begins: 'Lt. Jordan, having so far committed himself, as to be undergoing imprisonment under the sentence of the High Court of Justice in India, and his antecedents having been far from uniformly favourable, - His Royal Highness asked me to concur in a recommendation which he proposed to submit to the Queen that Lt. Jordan's services be dispensed with.

1p., 8vo (25 x 18.5 cm). In fair condition, on lightly-aged and worn paper. 19 lines, printed in a variety of fonts and point sizes, in a style characteristic of the period. Headed: 'HUNTS. COUNTY COUNCIL. | TECHNICAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE. | DISTRICT OF ST. IVES.' Signed in type by Hazlitt at the end. 'The Lectures are FREE to all; and it is hoped that many people will attend them, as they will be of a Homely, Useful and Practical Character.'

1p., 4to., with vertical perforation dividing the circular (upper part) from the form (lower part). Fair, on lightly-aged and creased paper. The fourteen-line circular begins: 'It is appreciated that every British Subject wishes to return at once, but all will not be able to get in the first train. | The British Committee will have to select the order of going by the various degrees of urgency. [...] Persons in Government service, men going to mobilisation, and persons in distress, have special claims to priority.' The form, completed in pencil by 'Mr & Mrs R.

All the items except the cut-out and the last card (in which he gives the price of a painting) are damp-stained, with part of the text of the letter illegible. One card in French. The first card, from 1982, thanks Ives for payment for 'watercolors'. The cut-out, in red paper, is roughly 10 x 10 cm. Intricately-cut, it depicts a long-leaved plant in a basket on legs. Although found with the other items, there is no indication that it is by Duramel. Ives made the news in 2000, when his extensive collection of paintings by L. S. Lowry was put up for sale.

On one side of a piece of wove paper, dimensions roughly 365 x 255 mm. Laid down on a larger leaf. Lightly creased and a little spotted, but good overall, and with the text entirely legible. The upper part of the item consists of the quotation from Pettis's manuscript book, consisting of nineteen lines in single column and twenty-six lines in double column. It begins 'The day was usher'd in with Ringing, Music, and Versing from door to door. At Eleven o'Clock a Cavalcade was formed in the Court Yard, West of the Church, which made a gallant appearance, in manner and form following'.
