Auction Catalogue, 50pp., 8vo, beige printed paper wraps, stitched, dulled, minor nick to spine, pencilled notes on cover, "Hazlitt" and "Defective.Small part of page 9 apparently burnt away; description of item 226 (p.21) cut out with loss also of most of 238 and all of 239 (p.22). The cutting out of this led to a cut in page 23 with no loss of text. The auction includes The Hazlitt Papers (letters by Hazlitt, The Lambs, Leigh Hunt etc), and some interesting Shakepeariana. 3pp., 16mo. Bifolium. On aged and worn paper, with closed tears to both leaves along fold lines, and glue from mount along inner margin of first page. He apologises for having to decline an invitation, having 'just told Lady Grey that I would call upon her to-night'. He would have liked to see her 'to ask your forgiveness for the many blunders I have committed to-day, tho' how to appear before you I really don't know'. He will attempt to 'throw' himself on her 'Good-nature' in a day or two, and concludes: 'I believe the debate in the Lords has confused my understanding'.

Three pages, 12mo, bifolium, good condition. She has found a letter to W.C. Hazlitt from her correspondent about Margaret Hazlitt's diary and asks its whereabouts. Her letter about it in "The Times" had produced no results, and P.P. Howe (extensive writer on her "great grandfather William Hazlitt") would like very much to find it still existed. SAhe concludes, "It is now my care to keep the Grave of William Hazlitt in good order at St Anne's Soho".

Good, on lightly-aged paper, with the engraving somewhat foxed; in good modern grey card wraps, marbled endpapers, and printed label on front. First appearance in printed form. On nine leaves disbound from 'The Keepsake for MDCCCXXXII', edited by Frederic Mansel Reynolds. Mary Shelley's story is on the seventeen pages 22-38, with the drophead title 'THE DREAM. | BY THE AUTHOR OF FRANKENSTEIN. | Chi dice mal d'amore | Dice una falsità. | ITALIAN SONG.' The engraving, by Charles Heath from Miss L. Sharpe, is titled 'Constance'.

4to, 134 pp. In original loose grey wraps, with 'Moral Tales | Vol III' in manuscript on front. Texts clear and complete, with numerous manuscript emendations. Fair, on aged paper, with slight creasing to corners of a few leaves. Wraps worn. Comprising 34 bifoliums (watermarked 'RW | KENT'), with a single leaf (watermarked 'TW | 1804') carrying the title 'Moral Tales. | from | the Original German of Augustus Lafontaine | translated | by | J Powell | Vol III | Contents of Vol III | The noblest Man. | The Intrigue | The Power of Conscience'.

Two pages, quarto. On aged paper, with several closed tears and loss at foot and remains of stub in margin, but with text clear and entire.

1st edition, 2nd issue. 8vo. In original plain grey wraps. Fly leaf and half-title. Pages: xi + 100 + 4 pages of publisher's advertisements (dated February 1814). Without the words 'THE END' or the publisher's imprint on the last page. In poor condition: grubby, frayed and stained, and with loss to one corner each of rear wrap and to last leaf of advertisements. Also lacking, as a result of the partial removal of an ownership inscription, a small strip along the top edge of the title-leaf, but with inscription 'Sophia F. Stewart - 1814'.

Son (1811-93) of the essayist (1778-1830), and editor of his works. Three pages, 12mo. Stained and grubby. Docketed, with date on blank reverse of second leaf of bifoliate. He will be pleased to see the portrait which his correspondent describes. 'I very well remember that there was a chalk portrait by Bewick which would seem to be that you mention and there was an engraving of it in the life of my Father which I wrote some short time after his death & I do not remember whence that impression was derived.
