The two maps facing one another in the original green cloth binding, with that of northern Scotland to the left and of southern Scotland to the right. Each map consisting of eight 25 x 15 cm panels, each of two rows of four panels each. Printed in black, with additional lines in red and blue. Worn and aged, but in fair condition overal, clear and complete. Small armorial stamp in gilt on front board, and in ink on reverse of one of the maps.

12mo (15 x 9.5 cm), 1 p. In fair condition, on lightly-aged paper with crease to bottom right-hand corner. Slight smudging to the address ('H. E. Hewitt Esq'). Arranging a meeting, with postscript: 'Sorry to hear of Mr Wards indisposition'.

On the recto of a piece of pink paper, roughly 17.5 x 23.5 cm, removed from an autograph album. Good, on lightly aged paper. Phillips's autograph is in the top left-hand corner, reading 'Montague F. Phillips | March 1927.' Above it are four bars of musical notation, marked 'allegro' and titled 'The Fishermen of England. The Rebel Maid" - both by Phillips).' Beneath this, and divided from it by a diagonal line, is Phillips's wife's autograph: 'Yours sincerely | Clara Butterworth'. The couple met while both students at the Royal Academy of Music.

8vo, 2 pp, 33 lines. Good, on lightly aged and creased paper. An interesting letter, written by a former policeman to a former probation officer, on the subject of the latter's book 'Come to Prison: A Tour through British Prisons today' (Longmans, 1957), about which the former has written a negative review. Begins by praising Stokes' 'really generous letter, written at what cost in self-control I can only dimly imagine'. When Hewitt 'read the published review', he thought 'that it was still on the whole unfair'. 'I hate reviewing really, and am a bad reviewer.
