In part a form, printed in copperplate, with the details completed in manuscript, and signed on behalf of the firm 'Bristol 3rd December 1822 | Errors Excepted | Gibbs Son & Bright'. Included on the debit side are: Duty; Entry Fees, Wharfage, Town & Dock dues; 95 day's Interest; Freight; Warehouse Rent, Porterage, Weighing & Hauling; Insurance from Fire; Brokerage; Commission, leaving 'Nett Proceeds' of £257 18s 10d on £819 5s 0d.

The 71 letters total 160pp. (18pp., 4to; 128pp., 8vo; 14pp., 12mo), and are in excellent condition, on lightly aged paper, with most accompanied by stamped envelopes, which are addressed to 'W. L. Stanton Esq | Armscote | Stratford on Avon'. The first couple of letters are on letterheads of the Hotel Tivoli, 'Ancon, Canal Zone', with the others from 1912 headed 'Casilla [i.e. postbox] 1004, Valparaiso'; and those from 1913 onwards headed 'Las Salinas [Valparaiso]'. Landscape 12mo, 1 p. Fair, lightly-aged and with a punch-hole to the top left-hand corner. 'You will be grieved to learn that Walton excised my boy's sigmoid on June 19 and that he died of acute ileus on June 23.'

4to (leaf dimensions 30 x 22.5 cm): 4 pp. Bifolium. Text clear and complete. On aged paper with slight wear to extremities and rust staining from paper clips at head and tail. The League's object is given as 'To introduce systematic non-theological Moral Instruction into all schools, and to make the formation of character the chief aim of school life.' The first page contains a brief discussion of 'one or two important matters' relating to the subject. '[...] There is no single moral instruction method. [...] The aim of moral instruction is to form the character of the child.
