3pp., 8vo. Typescript with a few manuscript emendations, and manuscript note at end attributing the piece to 'C. Campbell' in another hand. On the rectos of three leaves, pinned together. In fair condition, on lightly aged and worn paper. The first of the three stories is said to have occurred nearly fifty years before, the narrator stating that he was 'then between thirteen and fourteen years of age', which would put him in his early sixties at the time of writing.

115pp., 8vo. In red cloth binding. No dustwrapper. Aged, with back hinge sprung and one bumped corner at the back. Excellent inscription by Spender on the front free endpaper, in which he describes the history of the composition of the play: 'To And | with love from | Stephen. | March 16 1938. | This play begun January 1933, at Barcelona, partly written in January 1937 in Madrid & Albacete, and finished January 1938 in London, is almost a record of our friendships through five years.'

Several hundred images (most illustrations rather than photographs and most in colour), many carefully cut out, all laid down on 68pp. in an album made up from a ruled exercise book roughly 20 x 16 cm, including three fold-outs (the first, beneath a decorative flap that reads 'Birds Unfeathered | Worth A Bit Of Study', carrying eight 1930s illustrations women in underwear). The album has been attractively customised with printed illustrations of motor racing over board covers.

12mo, 2 pp. 25 lines. Text clear and complete. Fair, on aged paper, with thin neat strip from mount along left-hand margin on reverse. The letterhead, printed in brown, is headed 'JOHN CARVETH WELLS, F.R.G.S.' and features a small caricature portrait of Wells, apparently seated in a pram, reading from a book. Beneath his name is printed 'Poems, Short Stories, Articles, Lyrics and Music. | Travelogues and Talks. Hand-made Jewellery. | Colour Linocuts. Radio Talks, Acting, Writing.' The author of this letter published an autobiography, 'My Candle at Both Ends', in 1944.
